We went back down to the cabin last weekend, after my dad and Larry spent another week working on it. We’ve made a lot of progress. Dad and Larry finished the roof, put up the siding, roughed-in the wiring, installed underfloor insulation, and installed the door to the new bedroom.
David (Sandi’s dad) joined them late in the week to paint the exterior, and we came down on Friday with Shirley (Sandi’s mom) to install the interior wall insulation, move the satellite dish (again) and rearrange the main room in anticipation of the new space.
It made for a couple of really busy days, but the place is starting to come together. I think Larry and my dad will have the place basically finished after one more week, then it will be time for us to go back in and install the finished flooring and paint the walls.
Then we’ll start phase 2 — Sandi’s massive decorating effort. We already have a giant pile of new bedding stuff in the corner of our library at home. All of the girls are excited about making their new space beautiful. Me, I plan to move out to the hammock and maybe never leave.
